Robert James Cogan, 89, of Lords Valley, PA, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home.
Born March 15, 1922 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was a son of the late James Anthony and Mary Gandini Cogan.
He graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Elizabeth, NJ and attended Pace University, New York City, NY. Robert was a member of St. John Neuman Catholic Church, Lords Valley, PA. He was a US Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He loved sports and played tennis into his 70’s.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Helen Cogan of Lords Valley, PA; five sons, Kevin Cogan (and wife, Phyllis) of Carlisle, Robert Cogan (and wife, Lillian) of New Britain, CT, James Cogan (and wife, Liza) of Kunkletown, PA, Thomas Cogan of Mountainside, NJ and John Cogan of Naperville, IL; one sister Ruth Cogan of Elizabeth, NJ; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Cogan.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Patrick Shrine Church, 140 East Pomfret Street, Carlisle with Rev. Dwight D. Schlaline as celebrant. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. A viewing will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle.
