Robert J. Weibley Sr., 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 in his home.
He was born January 27, 1931 in Carlisle to the late Chester O. and Florence (Peterman) Weibley. He was the widower of Velva E. (Hefflefinger) Weibley. Bob served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on February 11, 1955, after serving four years in the military, to return to employment in Carlisle.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and the Church Council. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife, having visited 49 of the 50 states. He was a former supervisor in Dickinson Township and a Past President of the Plainfield Lions Club. He was a member of Carlisle Lodge No. 260, Free & Accepted Masons, for more than 50 years and was a Past Master of the Cumberland Star Lodge No. 197. Robert was employed by the former AMP Inc. for 41 years in various management positions before his retirement in 1990. After retirement he spent part of his time working as a real-estate agent for George Ebner and Associates and part of his time dabbling in real-estate development.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Deborah W. (husband William) Piper of Carlisle and Donna W. (husband Joseph) Lapano of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Nicole (husband Jeremy) Rhone of Carlisle, Jared Weibley (significant other Beth Ann Babinsack) of Lititz, Caroline Lapano of King of Prussia, and Brekan (husband Grant, D.O.) Zeigler; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Weibley of Carlisle; one brother, Melvin J. Weibley; and two nieces, Marilyn Heck and Lori Jackson. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert J. Weibley Jr.; and two sisters, Marie Black and Martha Weibley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Donald C. Snyder officiating. A masonic service will be conducted immediately prior to the 11:30 a.m. funeral service. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Robert to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 101 Erford Road Suite 201 Camp Hill, PA 17011.
