Robert B. Stambaugh, Jr.

Robert B. Stambaugh, Jr., of Newville, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born October 24, 1948 in Carlisle to Ruth J. (Crull) Stambaugh of Newville and the late Robert B. Stambaugh, Sr.
Robert retired from the Carlisle Police Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of: Big Spring Masonic Lodge #361. F&AM, where he was Treasurer; Zembo Shrine; Zembo Shrine Police Unit, where he was a Sergeant and Secretary; Scottish Rite of Harrisburg Valley; Twin Pines Hunting Lodge; Twin Springs Hunting Lodge; Upper Frankford Township Fire Department; Carlisle Fire Department; Bonny Brook Riding Club; Fraternal Order of Police; Carlisle Elks Lodge #578, BPOE; White Circle Club; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1299; the Cumberland Valley Sportsman’s Association; and several other sportsman’s groups. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and picking on Ivan. He didn’t say it very often, but he was very proud of all of the kids.
He is survived by: his wife of 16 years Beth A. (Myers) Stambaugh of Newville; two sons, Robert B. (wife Diane) Stambaugh III of Carlisle and Shaun M. (wife Holly) Stambaugh of McConnellsburg; a daughter, Shari L. Gaffney and companion Mike Boswell of Dillsburg; step-children, Jessica (husband Paul) Wilson of Gardners and John R. (wife Michelle) Weidner of Newville; a brother, Alan J. (wife LuAnn) Stambaugh of Newville; three sisters, Bonnie Jean (husband Ray) Snyder, Cheryl Ann Ficalora and Kimberly Sue (husband Kevin) Sanderson, all of Carlisle; nine grandchildren, Michael, Samuel, Megan, Emily, Bristol, Matthew, Mark, Noah and Owen; a brother-in-law, Randy Rakers; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Ivan. In addition to his father, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Rakers.
Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. William E. Pipp officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:30 until the time of services with a Masonic Service held at 7:15 p.m.
