Robert Alan Kayer, 76, of Boiling Springs, died Saturday, January 9, 2015 at Country Meadows of West Shore, Mechanicsburg.
Born September 18, 1938 in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late James and Isabelle Militello Kayer, and widower of Carine Marie Ritter Kayer his wife of fifty-four years.
He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Loyola University, Chicago, IL. Robert was Vice-President of the New York City Transit Authority, President of the Ocean Club at Smugglers Beach, South Yarmouth, MA, and a former board member of Carlisle Theater and Cumberland County Historic Society. He was an accomplished musician and a founding member of the Peter Kaye Quartet, Chicago, IL. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, James J. Kayer (wife Amy) of Harrisburg and Jeffrey A. Kayer (wife Kristin) of Enola; one daughter, Kristine M. Amtower (husband Richard) of Boiling Springs; and three grandchildren: Kathryn, Alicia, and Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Churchtown, Boiling Springs. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
