Richard Walter "Dick" Empfield

Richard Walter "Dick" Empfield, age 91, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Camp Hill and Melbourne, FL, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 2, 1924 in Carlisle, PA to the late Albert and Elda Shughart Empfield and was the widower of the late Helen Elizabeth Salisbury Empfield to whom he was married for 70 years. Helen passed on January 10, 2013.
Dick retired as a truck driver from Jones Motor Company after 20 years of service. He was a member of Teamsters Local 776 and the Retirees Club of Teamsters. He was a member of New Kingstown United Methodist Church. Dick enjoyed fishing along the Yellow Breeches Creek and belonged to the Yellow Breeches Anglers. Spending time with his family and friends was very important to him.
He is survived by two children, Judy A. Green of Mechanicsburg and Carol L. Urich of Coudersport, PA; three grandchildren, Brian D. Green, Colleen Lopez and Valerie Clouser; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Empfield.
Private graveside services will be held at Longsdorf Cemetery with Rev. Eric L. Funk officiating.
