Richard P. "Dick" Cockley

Richard P. “Dick” Cockley, 84, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg.
He was born December 24, 1933 in Walnut Bottom to the late Paul A. and Norma A. (Myers) Cockley and was the widower of Lucille Magee “Lucy” Cockley.
Dick graduated from Carlisle High School with the class of 1952. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Dick was employed by his father at Cockley’s Electric and later went on to own the business. He served as Parks Director for 12 years in North Middleton Township. Dick was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church, North Middleton Senior Citizens, AARP, FOE Aerie 1299 and Elks Lodge #0578.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marlene R. Cockley; two daughters, Teresa Dows and Jennifer (husband William) Ortmyer; one sister, Mary Lou (husband William) Shover; two step-sons, Michael Darr and Gregory (wife Vicki) Darr all of Carlisle; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and his beloved cat Sam. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Dick was preceded in death by a daughter, Lorie Cockley and a son-in-law, Mark Dows.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013 with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the funeral home.
