Richard E. Leitzel, Jr., 77, of Plainfield, died Friday, December 1, 2023 at UPMC Harrisburg.
Born in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Richard E. Leitzel, Sr. and June (Kinley) Leitzel, and the husband of 14 years to Melody (King) Leitzel.
Dick graduated from Cumberland Valley High School and enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served for four years.
He, along with a couple partners, owned B & J’s Antique Mall in Dillsburg. He was also an avid collector of antiques, especially Coca Cola products.
Dick loved being outdoors, enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, which, by the way, was “the most beautiful in the neighborhood.”
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing and was a member of the Dillsburg VFW, Dillsburg American Legion Post #26 as well as the Mechanicsburg Club.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his six children, 17 grandchildren, a great grandchild and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewings Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 10 AM to 2 PM and again from 5 PM to 9 PM at Hoffman Funeral & Crematory Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle. There will be no service.
Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to: Dillsburg VFW, 22 Franklin Street, Dillsburg, PA 17019 or the American Heart Association, 4250 Crums Mill Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
