Richard E. Kelley, Sr. age 85 of Carlisle, PA died on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born in Carlisle, PA on July 1, 1935 to the late Ralph M. and Clara F. Burgett Kelley and was the widower of Lois A. Kelley who passed on March 18, 2019.
Richard had retired from the Carlisle SynTec as a technical service manager. He was a US Navy veteran serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Penn Botts and the Williams Grove Historical Society. Richard enjoyed competitive archery shooting, fighting robots and he flew power parachutes.
He is survived by his two sons, Richard E. Kelley, Jr (wife Babetta) of Mechanicsburg, David L Kelley (wife Kim) of Carlisle, his brother, Gary Kelley (wife Jean) and a sister Doris J. Hamilton. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Shawn, Erin and Rachael and their children, Jay, Jocelynn, Ethen and Lily. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Rd. Carlisle, PA. Officiating will be the Rev. Iva L. O’Brien. Burial will be in the Westminster Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. There will be a walk-through viewing on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of services.
As mandated by Governor Wolf maximum capacity during gatherings is restricted and you may be asked to wait at the door when you arrive until the numbers allow for your entrance.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Richards name may be made to Heartland Hospice 1200 Walnut Bottom Road, Ste 302 Carlisle, PA 17015 or to the American Heart Association 4250 Crums Mill Road, Ste 100, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
