Richard I. “Dick” Slusser, age 81, of Newville, PA died on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at his residence in Newville with his loving family by his side. He was born in Carlisle, PA on January 11, 1940 to the late Charles E. and Viola Mowery Slusser.
Dick retired from Walter’s Excavating and a truck driver and had worked for the Allstate Paving Company. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Dick enjoyed riding his motorcycles (dirt bikes), horseback riding, fishing, hunting, black powder, and archery competition. Dick was an avid country music listener and enjoyed going to concerts with his wife and his family. He was also a life-time member of the Bonnybrook Riding Club in Boiling Sprigs, PA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lois A. Wise Slusser, Newville, two sons, William J. “Bill” Slusser (wife Dawn) Barbourville, KY, Michael D. Slusser, Newville, sister, Joyce Wise (husband Gerald) of Vallely Forge, PA, two grandsons, William J. Slusser II, Emmett S. Slusser, and two great granddaughters, Erin and Gracie Hinton.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 3:00 PM at their residence on 22 Center Road Newville, PA. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 2:00 PM till service time. Military honors will take place prior to the memorial services at their residence.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dick’s name may be made to Residential Hospice of Carlisle, 900 Century Dr. Suite 201 Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
