Richard C. Shannon, 74, of Carlisle, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born February 17, 1938 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Jesse C. and Ethel Marie Deitch Shannon.
He was a machinist for PR Hoffman, Reeves Homan, and Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1299, Carlisle. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game Association and the Yellow Breeches Anglers. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are one son, Richard C. Shannon, Jr. (and wife, Kimberly) of Camp Hill and two granddaughters, Ashlee Laatsch of Lemoyne and Alexis Shannon of Camp Hill. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy M. Finkey.
He adored his granddaughters and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was known for his kindness and patience and will be forever remembered as a son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Richard L. Reese officiating. Burial will be in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
