Richard Bushey

Richard “Dick” W. Bushey, 92, of Carlisle, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at his home.
Born Oct 27, 1918 in Gardners, he was a son of the late Harry E. and Ruth Bream Bushey.
He was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1937. He received a Degree in Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1941. He was a Industrial engineer for the U. S. Department of Defense for 40 years. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1935-1937. Richard was a pilot in US Air Force who served in the South Pacific during WWII from 1944-1946; LetterKenny Army Depot from 1966-1980; Olmstead Air Force Base from 1941-1944 and from 1946-1966; and Lexington Blue Grass Army Depot from 1972-1976. He was also a pilot with his own plane. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle; Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary to US Air Force; Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Scottish Rite Consistory; St. Johns Lodge 260; Elks BPO Lodge 578, Carlisle; VFW Post 477, Carlisle; and American Legion Post 101, Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Esther “Becky” M. Bushey of Carlisle; one daughter, Carol M. Fuchs (and husband, Donald) of Cuba, MO; one son, Richard D. Bushey (and wife, Margaret) of Carlisle; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Dale R. Bushey.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Lois K. Van Orden officiating. Masonic services will be held prior to the memorial service. Burial with full military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
