Rev. John L. Stirzaker, 98, of Carlisle died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born September 25, 1914 in Naugatuck, CT, a son of the late Joseph and Ada Millward Stirzaker and the widower of Irene Bashnick Stirzaker.
He was a graduate of Naugatuck High School; Nyack Bible College, Nyack, NY; undergraduate studies from Gettysburg College; and a Master’s Degree from Lehigh University. He served as pastor in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware and also served as a District Superintendent in Pennsylvania and New England for the Christian Missionary Alliance (CMA). He served on the Board of Managers of the CMA and President of the Board of Directors of Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. After retirement he continued to preach and conduct the Adult Bible Class at Chapel Pointe.
Surviving are one son, John “Jack†Stirzaker, Jr. (and wife, Ruby) of Big Canoe, GA; one daughter, Carol Jane Nazaretian (and husband, John) of Haverhill, MA; four grandchildren, John Stirzaker III, Annette Gossett, Rhonda Pierce, and Renee Villafane; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street with Rev. Walter L. Frankenberry officiating. Burial will be in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at Chapel Pointe.
