Ray E. Wert

Ray E. Wert, age 81, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
He was born December 10, 1934 in Carlisle to the late Clayton E. and Catherine (Lebeck) Wert.
Ray was a former laborer with the William Fulton Home Builders and retired as an electrician with the PA LCB. When Ray was young, he liked to hunt with his sons and go camping with his family. He was a former member of Brethren in Christ and a current member of the First Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Jean (Wolf) Wert of Carlisle; four sons, Ronald E. Wert of Carlisle, David L. (and wife Pamela) Wert of Carlisle, Richard M. Wert (and companion Susan Murray) of Newville and Dennis L. Wert (and companion Vickie Miller) of Millersburg; one brother, Merle Wert of Gardners; one sister, Sylvia Klick of Gardners; his sister-in-law and her husband, Phyllis and David Brownwell; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah S. Wert; two sisters, Pearl Bouder and Lois Wert; and three brothers, Paul, Harold and Dale Wert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jim Abe officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the funeral home.
