Ray “Andy” Hockley, age 67, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at the UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 20, 1950 in Carlisle to the late Wilmer Raymond and Constance Winona (Miller) Hockley.
Andy was a 1968 graduate of Big Spring High School, a 1972 graduate of Shippensburg State College with a BS in Education and he received his Master’s degree in Education in 1987 from Shippensburg University. He retired from Cumberland County where he worked for the Board of Elections, Adult Probation, was a part-time Deputy Sheriff and the County 911 Center. Andy also worked for the PA Fish Commission, taught Criminal Justice at Central Penn, was a Park Ranger at Michaux State Forest, and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a history buff, loved hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball and football. He was a member of the NRA, Elks BPO Lodge #578, Carlisle, the Michaux State Forest Association and the Carlisle Lodge, #260 F&AM, formerly Star Lodge #109, where he was a 33rd degree Mason.
He is survived by: his wife of 39 years, Bonnie L. (Stoner) Hockley of Carlisle; a daughter, Barbara Ellen Howell and her husband, John Scott, and their daughters, Ariel, Eva and Phoebe, of Drexel Hill; and a sister, Cindy L. Hockley of Carlisle.
Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Deborah J. Heisley-Cato officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 or to Carlisle Heart-n-Hands, 311 E. North Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
