Ralph Reed Gutshall

Ralph Reed Gutshall, age 91, of Carlisle Springs, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his son's residence.
He was born in Carlisle Springs on April 23, 1924 to the late Daniel Oscar and Bella Reed Gutshall and was the widower of Alice E. Burgett Gutshall who passed away on August 13, 2010 after 61 years of marriage.
Ralph was a former stonemason for Sheaffer & Sons in Carlisle and then retired after 25 years from Carlisle Tire & Rubber. He was a member of St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle and a former member of the Carlisle Springs Cemetery Association. Ralph enjoyed woodworking including building furniture and toys. He enjoyed spending time with his loving family the most.
He is survived by three sons, Gary L. Gutshall of New Market, AL, Dennis R. Gutshall of Carlisle and Mark L. (and wife Carolyn) Gutshall of Carlisle; four daughters, Vicki A. (and husband Kevin) Minnick of Edinburg, VA, Carolyn M. (and husband Frank) Frischkorn of Mechanicsburg, Andrea J. (and husband David) Bittenbender of Montpelier, VA and Teresa L. (and husband Brandon) Weary of Newville; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Gutshall of Newport; and a son-in-law, James Hileman of Mechanicsburg; twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David A. Gutshall; a daughter, Melinda K. Hileman; and a sister, Martha Sheaffer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Lawrence Cunnings and Rev. Sarah A. Heintzelman co-officiating. Burial will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
