Ralph Filmore Weary, 94, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle. Born May 26, 1919, on the farm in Middlesex, son of Lois (Conrad) & Niles Weary.
Ralph worked the family farm through the late 1940's, was then a rural route mail carrier, proud of the fact he could substitute on any of five individual routes. Later he worked as a Brakeman for the Reading Railroad, after which he worked for M & S Construction Co, and then working and retiring from North Middleton Township as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Ralph was a long time participant at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Carlisle prior to moving to Chapel Pointe.
Ralph enjoyed music very much. Along with his Father (Niles), Leo Shellehamer, and Frank Brymesser he was a member of the Dixie Melody Boys Dance Band, playing upright bass in many local venues in and around Carlisle.
Surviving are son Doug (and Linda) Weary of Roanoke, VA, grandchildren Lydia and Drew; daughter Donna (and Ralph) Littlefield of Kittery, ME; sister Shirley (and Ron) Ahlers of Carlisle, brother Lloyd (and Doris) Weary of Shermansdale, and brother Wayne (and Nancy) Weary of Palmyra. Many nieces, and nephews, and family including a special sister-in-law, Savilla Pavlasek.
He was predeceased by his wife Martha (Stambaugh); sisters Marie (Beittel), Ethel (Praisner) and Nora (Kimmel); brother Foster.
The family would like to thank everyone at Chapel Pointe and Hospice of Central PA, for their loving care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Henry Chapel of Chapel Pointe of Carlisle, 770 South Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Walter L. Frankenberry officiating. Burial will be in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Chapel Pointe of Carlisle.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Lingleston Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
