Priscilla G. Dunkleberger, age 80, of Carlisle, passed away, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 12, 1937 in Pomeroy, PA to the late Raymond John and Anna Mary (McConnell) Garrett and was the widow of George D. Dunkleberger, who passed on February 25, 2003. They had been married 44 years.
Priscilla taught school for 40 years, retiring from West Perry School District after over 20 years of service. She was a graduate of Lock Haven University and received her Master’s Degree in Education from Temple University. She enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle and mahjong and going to musical theater and murder mystery theater. She loved to travel, especially cruises where she enjoyed the beaches of South America. Priscilla was a member of the Carlisle Garden Club, Carlisle Civic Club, Carlisle Newcomers Club, AAUW and was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by: three daughters, Heather L. Pezoldt, Anna Michelle (and husband Marshall E., Sr.) Powell and Jennifer A. Dunkleberger; four grandchildren, Bailey A. (husband Ian) Boose, Kelsey R. Ganoe, Marshall E. Powell, Jr. and Garrett D. Powell; four nephews, Raymond Garrett, Mark Garrett, Jeffery Garrett and Michael Garrett. In addition to her husband and parents, Priscilla was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald J. Garrett.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Gibelius officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 or the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 11, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA.
