Perry D. Heath, 83, of Carlisle, died Monday, November 13, 2017 in his home.
Born on March 15, 1934 in Hallstead, PA, a son of the late Perry W. and Marion E. Bell Heath.
Perry graduated from North High School, Binghamton NY and attended the former Broome County Technical College, Binghamton, NY and the H.R. Stackhouse School of Fishery Conservation, Pleasant Gap, PA. He was the Conservation Officer of the PA Fish Commission, Cumberland County, retiring in 1992 after 30 years of service. In 1976, he was named the Conservation Officer of the Year by the Northeast (US) Conservation Law Enforcement Chiefs Association and served as Secretary of the Retired Conservation Officers Association
He attended First Presbyterian Church, Carlisle and was a member of Holy Way Presbyterian Church, Tucson AZ where he was a past Elder. Perry was a 50-year member of Cumberland Star Lodge #197, F&AM (now Carlisle Lodge #260) where he was Worshipful Master in 1974, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory and the SABBAR Shrine Temple in Tucson, AZ. He was a life member of the Carlisle Fish & Game Association, member of the Susquehanna Appalachian Trail Club and the NRA. Perry was a proud member of the Holly Grove Hunt Club, King William, VA.
Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Ruth E. Bowman Heath; a son, Perry P. (wife Susan) Heath, Carlisle; three daughters, Debra (husband Bill) Bowman, Wellsville, Valerie A. (husband Michael) Groetzinger, New Cumberland and Michele Suarez, Clearwater, FL; a sister, Maureen McDevitt, Binghamton, NY; seven grandchildren, Julia, Christina, David, Jennifer, Jessica, Ashleigh and Alex; and six great-grandchildren. Perry was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Heath, 1985 and a brother William Heath.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Anthony D. Lorenz officiating. There will be a Masonic Service performed at 9:45 am on Thursday prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
