Penny L. Smart

Penny L. Smart, 62, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.
She was born August 21, 1957 in Duncannon to the late Sherwood and Erla (Gipe) Kenee.
Penny was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, and Nana to her grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and enjoyed spending her free time gardening.
Penny is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Michael L. Smart; two daughters, Courtney L. (husband Jason) Boyer of Mechanicsburg and Tara N. (husband Jerimiah) Shuster of Newville; seven grandchildren, Jason Jr., Adalynn, Michael, and Gabriel Boyer and Keegan, Paige, and Brinlee Shuster; six siblings, Sandy Auxt of Duncannon, Randy Bitner of Duncannon, Donna Lukens of Duncannon, Jay Kenee of Duncannon, Vicki Heisley of Marysville, and Tammy Hefenfinger of Duncannon. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherwood and Claire Kenee.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
