Pauline F. Lawrence, 89, of the Lake Wallenpaupack area, passed away on February 5, 2017 at her temporary home in Carlisle, Pa.
Pauline was born in New Jersey to Paul Senise and Elizabeth MacIntosh on July 31, 1927. She was the second of three daughters. She went to high school in Matawan, New Jersey. She met her husband, Sidney Lawrence, after he returned from his service in the Navy during WWII. Pauline and Sidney married in 1948 and moved to Colorado while he earned his degree.
They returned to New Jersey in 1951, where their eldest son Gary was born while Sidney served in the Korean War. They then moved to Pennsylvania when Sidney was hired by the Westinghouse Corporation. Their second child, Nancy, was born in Pennsylvania in 1954. They moved shortly afterward to a home in Milmont Park, where they lived for many years. They had two more children, Steven (1957) and Jeffrey (1966).
Pauline was primarily a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed working as a teacher's aide for a few years when Jeff was a teenager. She loved to play bridge, and was an avid reader of mysteries. She loved her roses and took her family frequently to Longwood Gardens when they were growing up. She and Sidney also bowled for many years in a local league. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, with multiple trips to Hawaii and trips abroad, as well as many road trips to various parts of the continental United States. They were very involved with their extended families, and purchased a home on Lake Wallenpaupack as a vacation home with their best friends, Bud and Elllie. The two couples were blessed with an exceptional friendship, and often traveled together in addition to the many years they vacationed together at the Lake house. Polly and Ellie loved to play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit, and enjoyed water skiing as doubles when they had the chance.
Pauline is survived by her four children: Gary Lawrence MD and spouse Benedetta Lawrence of Bear Creek, Nancy Lawrence from the Lake Wallenpaupack area, Steven Lawrence and spouse Sally Pont of Toledo, Ohio, and Jeff Lawrence, Esq. and spouse Kate Lawrence, Esq. from Carlisle. She has nine grandchildren: Jessica (married to Chris Rorke), Brad, Andrew and his wife Kelli, Sara (married to Marc McClelland), Amy, Fitz, Miles, Noah and Sydney. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Charlotte.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings, Betty Wallace of Matawan, N.J., and Marilyn Wulff of Bayville, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Hamlin Public Library in Hamlin, Pa.
