Pauline W. Alspaugh, 80, a resident of Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle, died Sunday, December 18, 2011 in the home.
Born July 24, 1931 in Mt. Holly Springs, the daughter of the late Merrill P. Sr. and Gertrude May Minnich Herr and the widow of Richard Oliver Alspaugh Sr.
Pauline was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. During her life she worked at several area crystal plants. Mrs. Alspaugh worked in the dietary department at the Church of God Home, Carlisle retiring in 1997. She also worked for the Carlisle School District at the Stevens Building in their dietary department for four years. Pauline was a very devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was very selfless and compassionate person who loved to help others, especially with her wonderful cooking, baking and crocheting. Pauline had a green thumb and grew beautiful roses. She loved Lawrence Welk and enjoyed canning food, doing hand work and tending to her rose garden.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra K. Cobb-Wharam and her husband Dewey “Jackâ€Â, Carlisle, two granddaughters, Brandy M. McCabe and her husband Keith, Carlisle and Courtney A. Collare and her husband Christopher, Carlisle, three great-granddaughters, Celine E. Collare, Chelsea M. McCabe and Shannon C. McCabe, two brothers; Paul Herr and wife Betty and Ronald L. Herr all of Mt. Holly Springs and one sister, Darlene L. Herr of Millmont. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard O. Alspaugh Jr., three brothers; Merrill P. Herr Jr., Stephen L. Herr, Lawrence Herr and two infant brothers Mervin and Clarence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 22, 2011 in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle and from 9:00 am Thursday until the time of the service at the church.
