Paul Clarence Mcclincy

Paul Clarence McClincy, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Bethany Village, formerly of Good Hope Farms, in Mechanicsburg, PA.
He was born February 9, 1925 in the Fairview section of Punxsutawney, PA to the late James and Sara Jane "Jennie" (Sheesley) McClincy and was the widower of Joyce Ann (Snyder) McClincy, his wife of 64 years.
Paul graduated from Punxsutawney High School, class of 1942. He began his military service in 1942 with the Merchant Marines and then transferred to the Marine Corps during WWII. After completing his basic training in San Francisco Paul served in the Battle of Tinian, on the island of Tinian, in the Mariana Islands which became an important Allied base for the remainder of the war effort. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1946. After leaving the service, Paul graduated from Penn State University where he studied engineering. Upon completion of his studies, he married Joyce Ann Snyder on August 31, 1950. Paul began work at IBM in 1952 and was instrumental in installing the timing apparatus for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, CA. He retired from IBM in 1989 after 37 years of service. Paul, an avid deer hunter, loved to make his beef stew for the long weekends up at the cabin. Aside from his love of hunting, Paul took up skiing in his early fifties and was devoted to spending time with his daughter and grandchildren on many a winter day hitting the slopes where he was an annual member of Ski Roundtop until 2013. He was also a garden enthusiast taking great pride in his homegrown tomatoes and cultivating the flowers used for his daughter's wedding.
Paul is survived by his beloved and devoted daughter, Rebecca Anne McClincy of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Madeleine Paulina Darr and Liam Pierce Darr, both at home; sister, Naomi Brennan of Punxsutawney, PA; nieces, Gail Brennan Larson, Judy Brennan Edwards, Diane Brennan Anderson and Karen Milan; and nephews, David Brennan, William McClincy and Thomas Greenawalt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth I. Greenawalt; brothers, Clyde and Everett "Pete" D. McClincy; his dogs, Nellie, Snoopy and Maggie; and Sammy the cat.
Friends will be received at McCabe Funeral Home, 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 with a funeral service immediately following at the funeral home. Internment with full military honors will be at the Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, July 24, 2015 in the East Community Room of Bethany Village, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with a reception to follow.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA and McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney, PA.
