Patricia Anne Harris (Patsy), age 89, a resident of Chapel Pointe Nursing Home in Carlisle, PA passed into glory to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 8th, 2024. Prior to living at Chapel Pointe, she had lived in Boiling Springs, PA for many years.
She was born on March 16, 1934 to Roy and Geraldine Flickinger of Montoursville, PA. She graduated from Montoursville High School and then married her high school sweetheart, Wilmer LeRoy Harris, on October 10, 1953. She and Wilmer were blessed with four sons.
After staying at home to raise her children, she went to work for the Carlisle Area Intermediate Unit as a teacher's assistant working with students with special needs. She was employed twenty-five years until her retirement.
Her primary focus in life was caring for her family as a dedicated wife and mother. She also joyfully served at her church and spending time in her kitchen cooking, baking, and canning and freezing fruits and vegetables from their small orchard and large garden. She was a member of the Farm Women's Group #20 in Cumberland County as well as a card club. In addition, she loved to make counted cross-stitch projects that she gave to each of her grandchildren upon their birth as well as to friends. She also enjoyed camping with her family throughout the United States including Alaska.
She is survived by her husband, Wilmer, of seventy years as well as her sons, Dr. Russell Harris of Philadelphia, Terry Harris (wife, Patricia) of Enola, and Dr. Barry Harris (wife, Jean) of Leola. She was preceded in death by her son, Reverend Craig Harris, but is survived by her daughter-in-law, Susanne Harris, of Chambersburg. Patsy also is survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
A private family service will be held at the Hoffman Funeral Home in Carlisle with the Reverend Matt Purdy officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Boiling Springs, PA.
A public memorial service in her memory will be held for family and friends 11:00 AM Friday, January 26th, 2024 at the Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church, 14 Westminster Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics, 55 Miller Street, Enola, PA 17025 or to Carlisle Reformed Presbyterian Church at the address above.
