Patricia Flynn Hoefling

Patricia Flynn Hoefling, 98, of Fort Pierce, FL and Boiling Springs, PA, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023.

She was born June 12, 1925, in Greenwich Village, NY to the late John Jr. and Marguerite (Gray) Flynn. Pat was the widow of Maj. Gen. (RET) John A. "Jack" Hoefling who passed away in October of 2018 after they enjoyed 72 years of marriage.

Pat was a 1943 graduate of Valley Stream Central High School. After graduation she enrolled in Blackburn University and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She spent her entire career teaching children in various locations including embassy schools around the world. Pat traveled the world with her children and her husband during his decorated military career.

She is survived by her three loving children, Peggy (wife Louise Shapiro) Hoefling of Arizona, Kathlein Ambridge of Boiling Springs, and John (wife Susan) Hoefling of Virginia; four grandchildren, Elliott (wife Andrea) Hoefling of Maryland, Jack (wife Jennika) Ambridge of Virginia, Christopher (wife Dinora) Ambridge of Texas, and Shelby (husband Andy) Rayner of Maryland; three great-grandchildren, Mac, Lucia, and Isla. In addition to her parents and her husband, Pat was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ashley and one brother, John Flynn III. Her family and friends will remember Pat as a kind, generous, loving person who loved life to the fullest.

A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive Carlisle, PA 17015. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Churchtown.
