Norma J. Brown

Norma J. Brown, 83, of Boiling Springs, went to Heaven, Saturday July 2, 2016 at her residence with her loving children and grandchildren at her side.
She was born in St. Paul, MN, July 17, 1932 to the late Paul H. and Dorothy Richter Falz and was the widow of Robert A. Brown, who died October 22, 2013 and whom she was married to for 60 years.
Norma was a graduate of Central High School, St. Paul, MN. She attended the University of Minnesota where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and graduated with a BA degree in Education from the University of Akron, Akron Ohio. Norma met the love of her life, Robert at the University of Minnesota and they married in 1953. Norma taught third grade for four years before starting her family.
Norma supported Robert in his 25 year career at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where they moved throughout the United States, France and Canada. Norma and Robert moved to the Carlisle area in 1978 where Robert became President of Carlisle Syntec Systems. She was an active member and former Deacon at the Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and with CanSurmount of the Greater Harrisburg Area. Norma and Robert served on the Board and were active in Young Life of Carlisle. Robert and Norma moved to Beaufort, SC where she was a docent at the John Mark Verdier House and Museum. She was very active in the Callawassie Garden Club, and was a tutor mentor for disadvantaged children. Upon returning to the Carlisle area, Norma enjoyed participating in Day Lillies, Circle at Second Presbyterian Church, and Book Club. Norma also greatly enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home on Indian Lake in Somerset County.
She is survived by a daughter Carla D. (husband Tim) Stutenroth of Dillsburg PA, three sons, Todd (wife Susan) Brown, Cape May, NJ, Scott Brown, Chandler, AZ, and David A. Brown, Carlisle; ten grandchildren, Catherine and Shannon Stutenroth, Kevin and Benjamin Brown, Erich, Alexander and Ian Brown, Eddie, Julianna and Christina Brown; two great-grandchildren, Emmalyn and Graysen Brown, and was preceded by her sister, Lee Kewley.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013. The Reverends Dr. Jeffrey W. Gibelius, Rev. Jennifer J. McKenna and Rev. John L. Larson will be officiating. Private interment will be in the Second Presbyterian Church's Memorial Garden. There will be a repass and visitation following the service in the Church Rotunda.
Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013; Project S.H.A.R.E., 5 North Orange Street, Carlisle, PA 17013; and Samaritan Fellowship, 99 Mooreland Avenue, PO Box 495, Carlisle, PA 17013.
