Norma "Sue" Evelhoch

“Sue” Evelhoch, of Newville, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Harrisburg at the age of 80. Born July 18, 1944 in Wichita, KS, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Edward and Martha Mae (Harris) Armstrong. She was the loving wife of James A. Evelhoch, Jr. with whom she celebrated her 61st wedding anniversary this past June.

Sue was a homemaker for most of her adult life. Those who knew her particularly enjoyed her drawings and sketches. She was known for her devotion to family and long-lasting friendships. 

Surviving with Sue’s husband are a son James A. Evelhoch, III of Newport, PA. Four daughters, Rolene Harris (Gary) of Quartzsite, AZ; Betty Lentz (Marty) of Anacortes, WA; Dawn Godsoe (Daniel) of Newville; and BeLinda Brown Evelhoch (Dennis) of Stockton, CA also survive her in addition to siblings Ronald Armstrong, Roy Armstrong, and Donna Oleska. Sue enjoyed a combined total of 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters Roberta, Laura, Mary, and Rita, along with brothers William, Harry, and James.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. A viewing will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service. Interment will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
