Nicholas A. "Nick" Mineo, age 81, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 10, 1935 in Trapani, Sicily, Italy to the late Frank P. and Giulia (Figuccio) Mineo.
Nick retired from the United States Army as a Major after 21 years of service which included 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a graduate of Northeastern University, Boston, MA with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Nick also retired from the Governor's Office of Administration of the Commonwealth of PA after 16 years as an Automated Technology Manager. He was a volunteer at the Carlisle Barracks Chapel and at the Strike Zone bowling center at the barracks. He was a member of the US Army War College Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Community and was an active bowler and golfer and his family meant the most to him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carole A. Mitchell Mineo of Carlisle; a daughter, Lois A. (and husband Steven) Kuntz of Carlisle; a sister, Adriana Aiello of Gloucester, MA; four grandchildren, Jeremy M. Kuntz, Daniel L. Zeckman, Rebecca L. Kuntz and Jessica M. Clayton; seven great-grandchildren, Madisan, Quentin, Alajiah, Myanna, Tae-Shaun, Cierra and Tymier; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie A. Zechman; a brother, Santo P. Mineo; and two sisters, Lucy Puccio and Catherine Denaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the U.S. Army War College Memorial Chapel, Carlisle Barracks, PA with Rev. Gregory J. D'Emma, COL, USA (RET) officiating. Burial will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with full military honors. There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 p.m.
