Nghi Van Nguyen

Nghi Van Nguyen, age 76, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Hershey Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Cambodia on February 10, 1947, son of the late Ham Van and Chang Thi (Le) Nguyen. He was drafted into the Navy of the Republic of Vietnam, where he served as an officer. He was injured during the war and later immigrated to the United States.

Nghi owned his own business in the Carlisle area as a jeweler and watchmaker for many years. Nghi will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Nem Thi (Huynh) Nguyen. Beloved father of Nga Nguyen, Philadelphia; Van (Nguyen) Baum, wife of Ronald Baum, Harrisburg; and Viet Nguyen, married to Terra (Zimmerman) Nguyen, Carlisle. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Cameron and Lucas Nguyen and Joshua Baum.

Being a grandpa came natural to Nghi. His greatest pride were his grandchildren, in which he will be remembered for all the heart and love he shared with his friends and family.

Family was Nghi’s first and forever love. Nghi and his wife, Nem, instilled the importance of family to their three children, and delighted as their embodiment of family was passed on to their grandchildren and future generations. In fact, rare was a time when family was not around in some shape or form. If pictures are worth a thousand words, then a thousand words show how Nghi was always surrounded by family, as it’s not an easy feat to find a picture of Nghi without his loved ones by his side.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory; 2020 W. Trindle Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013, with the Funeral Services at 1:30pm at the Funeral Home. A Committal and Burial Service will be held immediately following at Letort Cemetery in Carlisle.
