Newel S. Zeigler

Newel S. Zeigler, 90, of Carlisle, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 27, 1932 in Shermansdale, PA. Newel was the son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Miller) Zeigler. Newel was preceded in death by his 16 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Grace (Kirkpatrick) Zeigler; four children, Wayne Zeigler (Lisa), Randy Zeigler, Fonda Zeigler (Kenny), and Darcey Swarner (Steve), all of Carlisle.

He was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Newel was an avid outdoorsman. He bred hundreds of hunting dogs. Buyers would travel from neighboring states to purchase a dog trained by Newel.

Visitation will be held at 11 am followed by his funeral service at 12 pm Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, where Evangelist Wayne Wheeler will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Restland Cemetery, Loysville, PA.
