Nellie T. Hocking

Nellie Thomas Hocking of Carlisle passed into eternal life Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born June 19, 1918 in Chambersburg. Nellie was the 9th child of the late Ira B. and Georgia Stewart Thomas.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Hocking Carver and her husband Barry G. Carver. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles D. Hocking in 1998. In addition she was preceded in death by her six sisters and two brothers.
She was a member of the Chambersburg Gospel Chapel and prior to her illness attended the Boiling Springs Bible Fellowship. Her life was filled with her faith and her family. In her youth she loved playing baseball and later enjoyed watching baseball.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be given to the Chambersburg Gospel Chapel, c/o Steve Stambaugh, Treasurer, 1237 Pleasant View Dr., Chambersburg, PA 17202 or the Forever Caring Fund at the Church of God Home, 801 N. Hanover St. Carlisle, PA 17013.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Churchtown with Chaplain Bradley Moore.
