Nancy J. Eby

Nancy J. Eby, age 85, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 with her loving family by her side at her residence.
She was born August 4, 1930 in Carlisle to the late Samuel J. and Rhoda H. (Greegor) Witmer and was the widow of the late Alvin E. Eby who passed March 17, 1991.
Nancy was a 1947 graduate of Carlisle High School. She retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Ships Parts Control Center after 34 years of service and had worked at the former Carlisle Shoe Factory. She was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Group, where she was Secretary and the Middlesex Township Seniors, where she was currently Secretary. Nancy was an avid cat lover, loved reading and crossword puzzles and she enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan J. (and husband Stewart) Lamma of Carlisle; a son, Stephen L. (and wife Beth) Eby of Carlisle; a sister, Clarissa Rutter of New Athens, OH; three brothers, Abram (and wife Della) Witmer of Carlisle, Denis (and wife Elaine) Witmer of Secretary, MD and David Witmer of Carlisle; three grandchildren, Brandon (and wife Rachel) Lamma, Benjamin Lamma and fiancé Olga Baron and Paige Eby; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Lamma and Aviana Lamma; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Salisbury and a brother, Samuel Witmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jan F. Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Letort Cemetery, Carlisle. There will be a viewing at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
