Michael Yale Bolger passed away on October 4th, 2022, at the age of 39 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
Michael was born March 3rd, 1983, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Peter Bolger and Stephanie Bolger (Line).
Michael’s birth was followed 2 years later by the birth of his younger brother Scott Bolger. Michael was thrilled to become a big brother, which lasted until age ten at which point Scott outgrew him and became the bigger brother. Michael graduated from Northern York High School in 2001 and followed that with a degree from ITT Technical Institute in Informational Technology Services. This led to his career in the IT field, in which he was employed by Capital Blue Cross at the time of his passing. Michael had a deep love for all things technological (with the exception of Apple devices and ALL printers) and served as the IT Guy for his entire extended family and group of friends.
Michael spent his time away from his computers listening to classic rock music (with a special love for Tom Petty), reading Science Fiction novels and wandering the Renaissance Faire in a kilt and eye patch. He was a devoted Uncle to his nieces and nephew. He loved to tirelessly build Legos and show them dubiously sourced movies and TV shows on his computers. Michael was an accomplished home cook as well. He would spend hours creating meals for his family and friends to enjoy, which they almost always did. Everyone Michael knew will deeply miss his openly generous nature, his humor and willingness to be the butt of any joke and even his incredible stubbornness. All will greatly cherish the impact he had on their lives.
Michael is survived by his parents, Stephanie and Peter Bolger, his brother Scott Bolger (Stephanie), his nieces Sloan and Quinn and his nephew Kian Bolger, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for November 5th, 2pm at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013. Michael lived with Type 1 Diabetes since he was 6 years old. The family asks that to remember Michael with memorial donations be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). You can donate online at jdrf.org/memorial or send a check to the JDRF Western and Central PA Chapter, 501 Martindale Street, Suite 670, Pittsburgh, PA, 15212.
Yeah, it's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
- Tom Petty
