Michael S. Salisbury, age 62, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home, in the loving care of his wife and nurse, Janice, and surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 21, 1953 in Carlisle to the late Edgar Miles "Sam" and Lydia Ann (Nulik) Salisbury.
Michael was a 1971 graduate of Carlisle High School, where he was a member of the World Champion Marching Band and the Galaxies Swing Band that competed and toured in Europe. He went on to Penn State University to receive his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Michael was a Senior Professor of Automotive Technology at HACC where he retired after 35 years of service. He was also part of the GM ASEP program and did GM product service training. He was always happy to help others with their car problems. Michael was a very active member of Carlisle Christian Fellowship Church. He enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army and loved to participate in the "Chariots of Fire" program, giving rides to those in need so they could attend Sunday services.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice K. Tetherow-Salisbury; a daughter, Alyson (and husband Nathan) Horne; a son, Wesley (and wife Tara) Salisbury, all of Carlisle; a sister, Debra (and husband John) Paulson of Media, PA; two grandchildren, Lyla and William; and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastor David A. Huston officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the nurses and caregivers of Celtic Hospice for the wonderful care given to Michael during his illness.
