Michael Marzella, Jr.

Michael Marzella Jr., of Boiling Springs, passed away Friday, July 12 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital at the age of 86. Born in Norristown, Montgomery County, PA he was the son of the late Doris (Freas) and Michael Marzella. He was the loving husband of the late Florence C. (Brophy) Marzella.

Michael was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, in Millersburg. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he served as president of Freas Glass Works, a family-owned industrial glass works manufacturing company in Conshohocken, PA. Later, he and his wife Florence also founded Marzella’s Pizza in Collegeville, PA. Michael and his son, Brady, co-founded Brady Instruments, Inc. in Lykens, PA. In his later years, Michael was an avid day trader in the stock market. He also loved to play softball.

Surviving are his daughters Meredith Marzella, and Robin Marzella, of Boiling Springs; a son, Michael Brady Marzella (wife Nicole), of Lykens, PA; and siblings Diane Carlile (Christopher), and Dennis Marzella, of Pottstown. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: H. Christian Helbling, Tristan Tillman, Chase Tillman, Gabriel Sheridan, Jemma Marzella, Aiden Tillman, Piper Marzella, and Lochlan Marzella, as well as many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Florence, he was preceded in death by his brothers Francis and Douglas. 

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Father Donald H. Bender as celebrant. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
