Michael D. Sweger

Michael D. Sweger, of Newville, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023 at his residence at the age of 32. He was born April 10, 1991 in Carlisle, PA to Denise L. (Porter) Hertzler, with whom he lived, and the late Timothy R. Sweger.

Michael enjoyed physical activity and exercise, especially outdoor activities and time spent with his pets. He was known by family and friends for his helpful, giving nature along with his pleasant demeanor.

He worked for many years in various roles within the construction industry.

In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his step-dad, Timothy Hertzler; a daughter Addison; and a sister, Skylar Hertzler of Newville. Grandparents Debra Johnson, of Newville; William Sweger (Nancy), of Mechanicsburg; and step-grandparents Richard (Shari) Finkenbinder, of Carlisle; and Samuel (Eleanor) Hertzler, of Carlisle, also survive him. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, Michael is also predeceased by a grandmother, Sandra Rohrer, and a grandfather, Dennis L. Porter.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Rev. Mark Ruzicka officiating.
