Merle R. Hoover

Merle R. Hoover, age 83, of Carlisle, PA passed away peacefully at UPMC Carlisle on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Carlisle on August 12, 1938, to the late Earl A. and Ethel M. (Shughart) Hoover.
Merle was a retired long time truck driver. He loved riding motorcycle and was a former member of the Turnpike Ramblers. He enjoyed classic cars, horseback riding in his younger days, mowing his lawn in perfect straight lines, working on racing Go Karts for family and watching them race and meeting his friends for breakfast. Merle was all about the love and dedication he had for his family and close friends. Anyone whomever met Merle, loved him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruth R. (Foster) Hoover; daughters Tina I. Greenawalt and her husband Jack of Mechanicsburg, Teresa Ann Stoudt and her husband Marlin of Carlisle and Gina Rae Hays and her husband Jamie of Carlisle; grandchildren Tim, Angie, Tiffany, Desarae, Ryan, Andrew, and Eric; great grandchildren Aubri, Aviyana, Jaiden, Khaius, Ma’Kai, Brynlee, Ryan, Jr., Mariah, Miles, Peyton, Ethan and Sawyer; brother Ronald F. Hoover of Carlisle. In addition to his late parents, Merle was preceded in death by his brothers John J. Hoover and Lee Hoover and sister Doris Woodrow.
