Melony Rose Frances Smith

Melony Rose Frances Smith age 66, passed away on February 14, 2023 in Carlisle, PA. She was born in Carlisle, PA on September 6, 1956 daughter of Louis and Jennie (Sampson) Vozar.

Melony worked in the manufacturing Industry before her retirement. She was a member of the VFW, and past Madam President of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the American Legion Post where she served in the Ladies Auxiliary for all of them.

Her family will remember her as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt who loved with her whole heart for her family and friends. She will also be remembered for her love of music and dancing, and enjoyed playing the guitar, tambourines, and singing and performed with a band known as the Dynamos. She loved animals but her favorite dogs were the poodles, shepherds, and horses.

Melony is survived by her two children Skye Rihel and Jason “Smitty” Halter, and her brothers and sister Wendell and Perry Vozar, and Oveda Hendrix. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tyler Starner, Melorah Halter, and Cadence and Carson Halter. She is also survived by her nieces Jennie Hendrix and Ginger Young, and nephew Alan Hendrix. Her boyfriend Lee Ziegler and ex husband Terry Halter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bennard Smith and her grandson Bengamin McGowan

The family suggests memorials in her memory be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201-8706.

A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Melony will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM with a viewing for family and friends held one hour prior to the services at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle PA 17013.
