Matthew Thomas Delisanti, age 32, of Carlisle died March 17, 2018.
Matthew was born April 1, 1985 in Harrisburg to Colonel (Retired) Neal J. Delisanti of Carlisle and the late Nancy L. (Payne) Delisanti.
In addition to his father, Matthew is survived by: a brother Neal A. (Lisa) Delisanti of Fairport, NY; sisters, Angela M. (David) DeFisher of Williamson, NY, Jennifer L. (Brian) Jenison of Enola and Teresa J. (John) Carney of Bartlett, IL; nieces and nephews, Isabella, Cecilia, Thomas, Calogero, Matthew, Connor, David and Neal; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his mother, Matthew was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Colonel (Retired) Thomas A. and Molly Jean (LaMaine) Payne, and Neal and Lucy (Vasile) Delisanti. His service dog and pal, Owen, also predeceased him in 2017.
Matthew survived a spinal cord injury the weekend before the start of his senior year at Trinity High School. Through his determination and perseverance, and the support of family and friends in his rehabilitation, he graduated with his class in 2003. He earned his Associates Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shippensburg University. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Matthew’s love of the outdoors and shooting were not diminished by his injury. He was witty and loved teasing and joking with people, all the while smiling as he did so. He was the driving force behind his mother Nancy’s physical rehabilitation. As Matthew rejoins his mother, his death leaves an emptiness in the lives of those remaining behind.
