Matthew Daedalus Witmer, 36 of Carlisle passed away in his home Sunday July 25, 2021. Matthew was born Sunday January 13, 1985, at Chambersburg hospital.
Matthew ran cross country throughout high school and graduated from Big Spring in 2003. After high school he served in the Army in military intelligence, including a one-year tour in Iraq. He then served an additional 4 years in the Army reserves.
He was on the Dean’s list at HACC and continued his studies in accounting and supply chain management at Penn State Harrisburg. He worked for Amazon for 4 years and Geodis for about 3 years.
Matthew enjoyed traveling and attending San Francisco Giant baseball games and San Francisco 49er football games. In his free time, he liked running, biking, hiking, movies, and listening to music. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Daniel P. Witmer II of Shippensburg, and his maternal grandfather Frederick W. Menzel II of San Francisco, Ca. He is survived by his mother Theresa Lynch of Carlisle and husband Robert, his paternal grandmother Judith Witmer of Shippensburg, his maternal grandmother Theresa D. Menzel of San Mateo, Ca, his three half-brothers Joseph Lynch of Harrisburg, Spencer Witmer, and Christian Witmer, one sister Theresa Israel off (husband Joshua) of Carlisle, and nieces and nephews; Jocelyn, Carter, Taylor, Tristan, and Liam Matthew, along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matthew will forever be remembered as a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, and friend.
A church service will be held at Middlesex United Methodist Church, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA on Thursday September 23 at 12:30 with a burial service following at Ft Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Annville at 3pm.
