Mary Maclay (Kowitski)Zimmerman, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Sarah Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, PA after suffering from Alzheimers Disease.
She was born and raised in Chambersburg, PA. Following graduation from Chambersburg High School, She attended Hood College where she received her degree in History and English. Mary taught school for many years. She started her teaching career with the Carlisle School District and then at Sara Lindemuth Elementary School, Susquehanna Township. She was active supporting her alma mater, Hood College, acting as the Harrisburg Club's president, was Alumnae President for the College and served on the college's Board of Associates.
Mary loved and enjoyed her family, especially her three grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Barber, Esq. of Windham, NH and her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Carol and Dr. Terry Robison of Carlisle and three grandchildren, Nicholas Robison and wife Laura of Alexandria, VA, Christopher Robison and wife Maliya of Philadelphia, PA and Elizabeth Barber of Windsor, CT.
She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Joseph and Lou Etta Maclay of Chambersburg, her husband of 42 years, Joseph R. Kowitski, Esq. of Harrisburg and her husband, Lawson Zimmerman, of Harrisburg, and her loving companion for the past five years, A. Ralph Taylor of Elizabethtown, PA.
She was loved and will be missed by her family.
A memorial service will be held at Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, 221 North Main Street, Chambersburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
