Mary K. Barrick, 92, of Carlisle, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Thornwald Home, Carlisle.
Born April 22, 1920 in Plainfield, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Lula Bushman Kennedy and the widow of James R. Barrick.
She was a 1938 graduate of Carlisle High School. Mary was employed for 47 years as tax collector for North Middleton Township. She was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle where she was also active in Sunday School. She was a founding member of Yellow Breeches ABWA where she had thirty-one years of perfect attendance.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosalie Ankabrandt (and husband, K. Dale) of Carlisle and Darlene Smith (and husband, Earl) of Carlisle; three brothers: Ralph Kennedy (and wife, Marie) of Lemoyne, Albert Kennedy (and wife, Mary Alice) of Mechanicsburg, and Norman Kennedy (and wife, Shirley) of Dillsburg; five grandchildren: Barbara Lee (and husband, Samson) of Bethlehem, Edward Smith (and wife, Wendy) of Columbus, OH, Jennifer Smith (and husband Michael Eberly) of Carlisle, Lisa Ankabrandt (and husband, Scott) of Carlisle, and Lori Ankabrandt of Greenwood, IN; and ten great-grandchildren: Abigail, Ellen, Kathryn, Ama, Olive, Rex, Leland, Rebecca, Olivia, and Jenna. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald J. Barrick, one sister, Helen Lear, and one brother, Ira Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church, 45 West South Street, Carlisle with Rev. James E. VanZandt and Pastor Barbara Lee co-officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church.
