Mary E. Wells

January 11, 1942 — June 1, 2015

Jesus came to me on June 1, 2015, and took my hand and brought me home. I am in a wonderful place where I am socializing, dancing, gardening, and bowling to my heart's content. Music, laughter and Jesus are guaranteed. Food is delicious and I will never gain an ounce. I will be bowling strikes and finally have that perfect game.
I was born on January 11, 1942 in Binghamton, NY. I was preceded in death by my generous and loving parents Carroll Orlando and Kathryn Elizabeth Weibler Furman, and the love of my life, the late Ronald F. Wells, who died July 20, 2013. We were married for 52 wonderful years. Sadly, I was preceded in death by my infant son Frederick Clair Wells and two sisters.
I graduated from Seton Catholic High School in Endicott, NY, where the nuns would slap the backs of your hands with a ruler if you didn't pay attention. I became a mother and homemaker for my family. I was a self-employed artist with my artwork published in many magazines. I belonged to St. Rita Catholic Church in Blue Ridge Summit, the Guild of American Paper Cutters and the Council of Arts of Perry County.
I am so proud to have been a loving mother to my two daughters, Lynne (and her wonderful husband William who would take me to yard sales on the weekends) Smith of Cascade, MD. Lynne has been blessed with my love of gardening. We have spent many summers gardening together and trying to find that special plant to go in that perfect spot in the garden. Brenda (and her partner Richard Atwell who was always kind enough to fix my TV settings after I pressed the wrong buttons) Brown of Sabillasville, MD. Brenda has been blessed with the ability to see the beauty in everything, and the gift to make everyone laugh; two handsome grandsons; one sister and two brothers, and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 13219 Monterey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, PA with Father Robert Malagesi officiating. Private interment will be in the New Era Cemetery, New Albany, NY at the convenience of my family. There will be a celebration at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Refreshments will be served following the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Waynesboro Animal Shelter, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. ~ Helen Keller
