Mary E. Eichhorn

Mary Elizabeth Eichhorn, 89, a resident of Cumberland Crossing Retirement Community, Carlisle, died Saturday Aug. 20, 2011 in Cumberland Crossings.

Born Jan. 25, 1922 in Cohasset, Mass., the daughter of the late Patrick and Rose James Tanney and the widow of Theodore Francis Eichhorn II.

Mrs. Eichhorn was employed with the Federal Government for 30 years and the last 21 were at the Carlisle Barricks. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle. Mary enjoyed creating oil paintings and going to the beach to swim. She loved to read newspapers and usually read at least three a day.

Surviving are four sons, Theodore Francis Eichhorn III of Arizona, Patrick Eichhorn and his wife Diane of Boiling Springs, William Eichhorn of Vermont and John Eichhorn and his wife Cindy of Boiling Springs; three daughters, Kathy Wilson and her husband Kirk of Carlisle, Dottie Basehore and her husband Robert of Mechanicsburg and Mary Watson and her husband Deen of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Corey, Christian, Heidi, Chelsea, Michael, Speed and Lindsay; and four great-grandchildren, Reagan, Colin, Payton and Cassidy. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Eichhorn and three brothers, Patrick, Joseph and William Tanney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.

Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
