Mary Ellen Boyd

Mary Ellen Boyd, 95, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the Church of God Home in Carlisle, PA.

Mary was born in Carlisle, PA on September 2, 1929, to the late Merle and Lillian (Zimmerman) McCoy.

She is survived by her three sons Donald L. Boyd of Biglerville, PA, Stephen V. Boyd of Newville, PA, and Craig L. Boyd of Newville, PA; two grandchildren Carrie (David) Collins of Newville, PA and Corey Boyd of Minneapolis, MN; two great grandchildren Robert and Rachel Collins; and one sister Norma Miller. 

Mary was employed by Giant Food Stores in the deli department for many years. She was a master sewer and quilter, making clothing, quilts, and other creations for her family. She was an avid collector of Boyds Bears and made the best strawberry jelly and blueberry pies, loved by the entire extended family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her great grandchildren, Robbie and Rachel, grow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ulmont Boyd; three brothers, Marlin, Gerald, and Merle McCoy; and two sisters, Margie Bair and Janice Flury.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Westminster Cemetery. Pastor Dick Reese will officiate.
