Martha G. Russell, 92, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
Born January 24, 1922 in Bloserville, a daughter of the late Edward Z. and Mary Emma Smith Gayman and the widow of Marlin R. Russell who passed in 1990.
She formerly attended the Carlisle Presbyterian Church. She was an excellent cook and baker, and the roast beef she made would melt in your mouth. Martha enjoyed board games, puzzles, word search books, and playing cards. Time spent with her loving family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was very special to her. She loved being able to actively play with her grandchildren. In the beginning of her marriage she especially loved being an Air Force wife.
She is survived by two sons, Donald R. Russell (and his wife, Frances) of Carmel, IN and G. Steven Russell (and wife, Brenda) of Woodbridge, VA; two brothers, Merle Gayman of Carlisle and Glenn Gayman of Newville; one sister, Mildred Sees of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, David, Daniel, Corey, and Spencer; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Jay Gayman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle with Chaplain Bradley Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
