Martha Elizabeth Gutshall Sheaffer, 88, of Carlisle died at Church of God Home on Monday, February 24, 2014.
She was born June 6, 1925 in Carlisle Springs to the late Oscar D. and Bella Reed Gutshall. She was the widow of the late Wilmer A. Sheaffer who died in 1997.
Martha was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Class of 1943. She was a Sales Associate with F.W. Woolworth Department Store for 25 years. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles and working with her house plants and vegetable gardens. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family. She was a member of St. Matthias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle Springs.
She is survived by two sons; Lloyd E. (and wife Caroline) Sheaffer of Carlisle and Lynn S. (and wife Elaine) Sheaffer of Mechanicsburg, two daughters; Barbara G. (and husband Melvin) Garman of Cocoa Beach, FL and Judy A. (and husband Dennis) Snyder of Carlisle and one brother, Ralph L. Gutshall of Carlisle. Also, seven grandchildren; Laura (and husband Bill) Wills, Scott (and wife Lena) Sheaffer, Michelle Richards, Jason (and wife Jennifer) Garman, Kim (and husband Adam) Landvater, Eric (and wife Melissa) Snyder and Adrienne Sheaffer and companion Bill Treichler and fifteen great-grandchildren; Noah Wills, Lacey and Mason Sheaffer, Kirstie, Faith and Austin Richards, Claire, Elle and Grant Garman, Brenden and Killian George, Raegan and Jacob Landvater, Zoe and Dylan Snyder.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, February 28, 2014 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. with Reverend Sarah A. Heintzelman officiating. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle, PA.
