December 22, 1955- February 18, 2014
Martha Ann Vaughan of Carlisle passed into eternal life on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. She was 58 years old. She was born in Topeka, Kansas, and grew up in Freeport, Illinois, and Chatham, New Jersey. Martha came to Carlisle to attend Dickinson College and graduated in 1979. She recently joined festivities there for a reunion.
Martha is survived by her loving brother, Eric Vaughan, of Arizona, many friends in Carlisle and her longtime companion, Holly the cat.
Martha was able to travel with her family to Ireland, where she kissed the Blarney Stone, Wales, Scotland, England and Brazil.
Martha enjoyed the community life at New Visions in Carlisle in recent years. The staff and residents' daily camaraderie and support, trips and holiday celebrations allowed her gentle and cheerful spirit to flourish.
Martha was a faithful member of Saint Patrick Parish. Her artistic talents in photography graced the 2000 edition of the Parish Directory. Martha was also a dedicated member of the 11am Sunday Mass Choir where she will be dearly missed. She eagerly attended Bible studies as well.
Martha taught us all how to be a good friend.
