Marlene Marie Swigert

Marlene Marie Swigert, 82, of Carlisle, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at her residence.

Born on October 28, 1936 in Boiling Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd and Elda (Lebo) Killinger. She was the widow of Gerald Swigert who passed in 2013.

Marlene was a longtime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church and more recently Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was also a member of AARP in the Carlisle area. She worked over 30 years at Plainfield Elementary School as a kitchen manager. Marlene was a hard worker and wonderful housewife and mother. She enjoyed assisting at church functions, cooking, baking, and square dancing (which is where she met her loving husband, Gerald). Family and friends meant the world to her.

Marlene is survived by her sons, Robert (wife Ellen) of Newville and Michael of Carlisle; brother, Rodger (wife Barbara) Killinger of Mt. Holly; sister, Anna Mae (husband Wayne) Herr of Mt. Holly; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, eight nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald and a brother, Dennis Killinger.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle with Pastor Matthew Plant as officiant. A viewing will be held on Monday evening, August 5, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service at Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.

Per the family’s request, to help defray funeral expenses, donations may be made to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
