Marion "Molly" Garman

January 15, 1935 — January 16, 2018

Marion “Molly” Dagmar Moller Garman, age 83, of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, surrounded by her two loving sons.

Marion, or “Molly” as her friends affectionately knew her, was born January 15, 1935, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Marie (Rathgeb) Moller. She was the widow of the late John Levan Garman who predeceased her in 2011 after 52 years of marriage.

Molly was a longtime central Pennsylvania real estate agent, most recently with Century 21 in Carlisle. She loved her work and the many friends she made through the real estate business in which she was actively involved until the time of her passing. With husband John, she owned and operated The Garmanhaus Bed and Breakfast in Boiling Springs for 30 years. Molly was a Pennsylvania State University graduate who went on to become a preeminent community advocate for the residents of Boiling Springs, Carlisle, and the surrounding region, serving as an active member of the Boiling Springs Civic Association, the Cumberland County Historical Society, and the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors.

Molly loved Children’s Lake, formally known as Boiling Springs Lake. She and her husband John helped preserve and repair the lake and were instrumental in starting the tradition of the floating Christmas tree and luminaria in Boiling Springs during the holiday season. Most recently Molly strongly supported the Boiling Springs “Save the Lake” campaign, established to preserve the beauty and integrity of this village centerpiece for future generations.

Family meant everything to Molly, and she traveled often to share in their lives, events, and achievements. She is survived by her two sons, John Levan “Van” Garman II (and wife Tracey) of Coppell, Texas, and Matthew Scott Garman (and wife Marisa) of Scituate, Massachusetts; her brother, John Moller (and wife Tawney) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren Cortney (and husband Jason), Cameron, Caitlin, Benjamin, and Maria; great-grandchildren Sophia and Luke; cousin (and namesake) Marion Hakanson of Northridge, California; brother-in-law Brad Howes; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marion was preceded in death by her dear sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Howes.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory. Details for a celebration of Molly’s life will be forthcoming, and interment will be private and at the discretion of the family. To sign the guestbook, please visit www.HoffmanFH.com
