Marianna Lewis, 86, of Carlisle, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born January 18, 1925 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Mildred L. Daylor Murray and the widow of Harold M. Lewis.
She was a graduate of Western Maryland College and was employed as a substitute teacher for various elementary schools. Marianna was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, where she served as worship assistant and was also a member of the Sunday School. She was Past President of the American Association of University Women, a member of the Women’s Club of Carlisle and AARP. She was Judge of Elections for Dickinson Township for several years and was a volunteer at the Carlisle Hospital.
Surviving are three sons, John M. Lewis (and wife, Jean) of Carlisle, William B. Lewis (and wife, Nancy) of Newark, DL and David S. Lewis (and wife, Linda) of Elkton, MD and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Wendy, Trevor, Elizabeth, Caitlyn, Morgan and Chase.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
